Big Projects
As well as doing lessons and workshops I also take commissions for bigger creative projects. I can either be commissioned to make some kind of structure, mural or textile piece or I can facilitate workshops where a bigger piece of art is made by a school or community group.
In the past I have made two life sized moving elephant sculptures one for a parade at ‘Camp Bestival’ and one for an anti HS2 (high speed railway line) protest. I have also a ‘Superlambanana’ for Frontline Church and two penguins for ‘Go Penguins’ one is my own design and one was designed by children from Anfield and Breckfield Community Centre. For Non-Smoking Day I made a giant metal eagle covered in cigarette packets commissioned by the NHS.
Here is what Art Co-Ordinator Louise Roberts had this to say about a mosaic project for Our Lady Immaculate Primary School:
"Working with Hannah has been inspirational for both pupils and staff across the school, she worked closely with the children supporting them in formulating their ideas and designs. Hannah’s enthusiasm and passion for developing young artists was paramount in her professionalism, she demonstrated her ability to work in a busy school with children from Foundation Stage, Key Stage One and Key Stage Two. Children explored the design process through the medium of mosaic and Hannah was able to creatively include the children’s ideas in a final piece which depicted the school’s catholic ethos. Hannah engaged the children from beginning to end, she shared her own work as an artist and spent time discussing and explaining her pieces. Age appropriate workshops were delivered to a high standard, supporting the schools implementation of the Art National Curriculum, developing skills and promoting independent and creative thinking."
